The partnership started in its year of establishment, 1955, and continued till 1995. From 1995 to 2005, NewNet was the affiliate partner of this organization. The famous A-Channel system has acquired the rights of this network. The programs of this channel are very popular among the people of Toronto. The organization has placed its camera on the renowned CKVR broadcast tower. This camera captures Barrie, Lake Simcoe and its surrounding areas.
The A-channel rebranding has prompted the organization to incorporate the suburban York Region of Toronto under its area of focus. The initials of their names, V and R were included in the callsign of the station. In 1969, CHUM became its owner.The CHUM-City Building in Toronto was declared as the merging point of the master control departments for CKVR, CKNX, CHWI, CFPL and CHRO in February 2005. CFPL in London was chosen as the consolidation area of the traffic and programming departments. A Channel Barrie disseminates that the new united master control signal replaced the previous one at around 10.00 am on third June 2005.
