Daystrom

Dr. Richard Daystrom comes as a fictional character, from the series Star Trek universe. Besides Daystrom also appeared in the Star Trek original series episodes, “The Ultimate Computer”, that was chiefly portrayed by William Marshall. He is a well known computer Engineer of the twenty third century, who had worked on the Duotronic computer systems that were functional in the streets of all the Starfleet vessels

Among Daystrom’s newest technology, were the revolutionary multitronic M5 computer systems that could track the thinking process of a human brain. If the technology proved successful, it would be used to substitute the entire mortal crew of the Star fleet vessels.M5 was the fifth design that was implemented by Daystrom. The previous four designs that were proposed by him earlier did not do very well. But the M5 version was ready to go for trials and ultimately it could be made for some use. The capacity of the M5 version was made according to the pattern of Daystrom’s brain engrams. The ultimate M5 version was made from a copy from his own mind. But that M5 version also became very unpredictable. When the program was used in the replicated computer games, M5 launched very fatal attacks against the other Federation ships, as a result of which the M5 version of the computer system had to be shut down in the end. Another fact that we come to know about Richard Daystrom, is that the Daystrom Institute of technology was named after him.
In the sci-fi movie Star Trek, Dr. Richard Daystrom is rated as one of the most influential Human Scientists of the twenty third century. Daystrom is considered to be a scientific wonder and during his day, he was thought of having the same pedestal as that of such scientific geniuses Albert Einstein, Sitar and Kazanga. Daystrom was responsible for the achievement of the Duotronic invention, which lead him to win the Nobel Prize, as well as the Zee-Magnees awards. But it somehow occurred to him, that he was not duly acclaimed for his work and revolted against his peers. He alleged them of getting his work done on the lines that were mostly similar, to his line of thinking. He was left only with the small traces of his work that he has done, and left with what could be termed as the synopsis of his total work done. Now he fully concentrated on the working of the multitronic computer system and went on to create a device of artificial intelligence. The M5 computer now worked in order to deliver the starship.
