Bringing Up Baby

Bringing up baby is a family oriented romantic comedy that was awarded by the National Film Preservation Board, USA with the National Film Registry award, in the year 1990. The story of the movie revolves around an array of events. Bringing Up Baby shows, how David Huxley desperately seeks a bone to add on to his museum collection. During his hunting of the bones, under queer circumstances, David Huxley has the chance to meet Susan Vance.

Together the twosome goes through not so welcome experiences, and they team up with a leopard called Baby. Susan Vance, the character played by Katherine Hepburn, was an absentminded young woman. However Susan is determined to catch the paleontologist David Huxley (Cary Grant). In the process to drive his attention, Susan Vance uses her pet, in this case a leopard that is called Baby. Bringing Up Baby involves the element of sham, where George, the small terrier drags out the heavily sought after valuable fossil bone. The story also involves a game hunter, a rich old aunt, a jealous fiancйe.
A very ferocious leopard also arrives on the scene which leads Baby to be wrongly identified with it. Both the wayward characters, Dr. David Huxley and Susan Vance become the members of the same journey of searching out bones that have turned in to fossils. Dr. David Huxley was already engaged to someone, he promised to get married. But Huxley led a bohemian life by wandering in search of bones, fossils and such other pertaining objects that are needed to grow his collection in palaeontology. Susan Vance, on the other hand grows more sophisticated, as she has to bring up Baby, the leopard.

At first Baby was a bit docile when Susan shipped Baby to her New York apartment. It was actually brought in by Susan for her aunt who lives at Connecticut. Bringing Up Baby gradually takes a turn as George; the terrier drags out the valuable fossil bone and buries it at a place where nobody could reach for it. At the same time Baby escapes as well as a wild leopard from the circus tent. Hence a case of mistaken identity arises. Baby could not be distinguished from the leopard that has fled from the circus party. All these strange cycle of events leads Susan to nurture special feelings for David Huxley.
