My Sister Sam Television Sitcom

My Sister Sam is a situational comedy of Columbia Broadcasting Sytem that was aired from 1986 to 1988.In this series Pam Dawber, a veteran American actress, best known as Mindy McConnell of Mork & Mindy, who enacted the role of a San Francisco photographer whose life is disturbed when her teenaged sister, acted out by Rebecca Schaeffer (an American actress of the My Sister Sam sitcom fame), comes to stay with her. Unfortunately, Rebecca was stalked and murdered.

My Sister Sam premiered in 1986. After a slight success on Monday nights, CBS changed its schedule and shifted it to Saturday nights, opposite NBC's successful comedy lineup series. The audience of the show then reduced to one of the lowest on network TV and CBS cancelled it in mid-1988 after only half of the second season had aired. In contrast to the common belief, My Sister Sam was not cancelled as a direct result of Rebecca Schaeffer's murder as this happened a year after the show ended.

My Sister Sam has a noteworthy guest star cast. They were Scott Bakula (in the 1.7th episode), Ed Marinaro (in the 2.19 th episode), and Cristine Rose (in the 2.20th episode). Kim Carnes performed the theme song, Room Enough for Two. It was written by Steve Dorff, who won a BMI TV Music Award in 1987 for his work on the series. The show also got nominated for the Emmy Awards for Outstanding Costume Design. Pam Dawber won peoples Choice Award for her exceptional role.

On 18th of July, 1989, Schaeffer who was looked upon as a promising movie star with in Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills, was killed by shooting at her house at Los Angeles by a mentally sick admirer, Robert John Bardo, who insanely loved and worshipped her in the form of the young, energetic character that she portrayed on the series. Soon, a syndication right of the My Sister Sam series was taken up by USA Network that eventually ran all forty-four episodes including the ones that were never shown on CBS.
