A M 180

A M. 180 or A M 180 is a single by Grandaddy, the famous American rock group. It was released in 1998. This single got featured in the English film, 28 Days Later, in the year 2002. The indie rock group, Grandaddy, originally hails from Modesto of California in United States. Grandaddy was born in 1992 as singer/guitarist/keyboardist Jason Lytle, bassist Kevin Garcia, and drummer Aaron Burtch took the initiative

Keyboardist Tim Dryden and guitarist Jim Fairchild became part of the band in 1995. The band's musical style, as exemplified in A M 180, often includes experimental electronic sounds that combine the elements of folk and rock. Both rural America and fast city lives of United States have been incorporated in the lyrics of the songs, as in A M 180. Wildlife, obsolete technology, robots, incompetency and heartbreak are the common themes. Lyricist Jason Lytle, with his sewage treatment facility, tremendously influenced many of the songs on The Sophtware Slump. Grandaddy was also invited to open for Elliott Smith on his Figure 8 tour, after the release of Sophtware Slump. The Grandaddy song "Nature Anthem" could be heard frequently in the late 2005, as is A M 180. Nature Anthem was used in a Honda Civic Hybrid television commercial and is presently a part of an advertizement of Coca Cola.

History

Jason Lytle announced the band’s split on 27th January 2006. Because, they did not want to release music on major labels or did not have that desire to play at specific Ticketmaster or Clear Channel sponsored venues. In fact, the performances did not prove to be quite money-spinning and alluring venture for the guys in the band. Gradually, it was also unveiled that at downtown Modesto, the band had a meeting during December 2005. The meeting was called for deciding the future of the group. The meeting was full of grievances and tension. It resulted due to the disruptive communication between the band members who produced A M 180. The band has no such plans to tour on ‘Just Like the Fambly Cat’, their final album. Lytle has stated that he has recently embarked on a solo tour and wishes to continue making music.
