Kicking and Screaming is a Jesse Dylan directed movie belonging to the genre of comedy. This Robert Duvall, Will Ferrell starrer was released on May 13, 2005. The film is about the feats of a boy's soccer team and their newly-appointed coach.

Kicking and Screaming follows a simple storyline. Salesman Phil Weston( Will Ferrell) always wanted to keep distance with his formidable father Buck( Robert Duvall). Ten years later, Phil was agreed to train 'the Tigers', his son Sam's team. Sam has already been dropped from 'Gladiators' by Buck.

Kicking and Screaming then prepares the audience for some surprise for Phil brings Mike Ditka, a real-life coach and picked two soccer-crazy Italian boys to help out 'the Tigers' in the Championship final. According to some noted film critics, though the soccer-playing was well shot, the overall impression could not live up to the expectation. And the presence of Will Ferrell could not create any special magic.

Kicking and screaming received mixed reviews. Though, few critics lauded Will Ferrell's performance, there were many who expressed their disappointment with the performance of Will Ferrell. The film got an overall rating of 50% from the Rotten Tomatoes, the online film review site. In his supporting role, Robert Duvall still gave an incredible performance. Mike Ditka was also amusing. But the leading female characters were looked underplayed.

Kicking and Screaming received one nomination in the Golden Raspberry Awards(2005) and that was in the worst actor category to Will Ferrell. This happens to be the second film of Will Ferrell where his father was played by the actor once portrayed the members of the Corleone family( of 'The Godfather'). In 'Elf', James Caan( once played Sonny Corleone) acted as Ferrell's father.

Kicking and Screaming is another film made by Noah Baumbach in 1995. The movie is all about a group of college graduates who refuse to proceed with life and try to break away from its mores. Josh Hamilton, Chris Eigeman, Carlos Jacott , Olivia d'Abo, Chris Eigerman, Eric Stoltz act in it. The movie received critical acclaim and accolades. It was screened in the prestigious New York Film Festival in 1995.

Kicking and Screaming was produced by Joel Castleberg and co-written by Noah Baumbach and Oliver Berkman. The movie was distributed by the 'Trimark Pictures Inc.'
