Along with Thats Me on the flipside, Dancing Queen was released on 6th August 1976 in Britain, on 13th August in France and Belgium, on 16th August in Sweden and Scandinavia, on 12th November in the U.S. and in May 1977, it was released in Japan with Tiger on the b-side.
From September 1976, Dancing Queen was at the top position in U.K. for six weeks. In April 1977, it turned into the ABBAs American charts topper. It also achieved in more eleven countries that is, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, West Germany. Some other nations were Belgium, Netherlands, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mexico, Australia and New Zeeland.
In Austria, Canada, France, Finland, Spain and Switzerland, Dancing Queen reached to top 10. It was found on Top 20 in Italy and Japan. In 1992, the song was re released as Erasure, in U.K.
In Channel 4 television poll of The 100 Best No.1s Dancing Queen was ranked on 4th position, in 2000. In 365 songs of the century list, it was located on 148th, in 2001.
