Fargo

Fargo is a movie that is based on a true incident that had taken place in the region of Minnesota The directors of the film Joel and Ethan Coen portrayed events in the film that where actually true. In the same time they had taken a lot of artistic independence in order to give the film a more comprehensive and complete look. Fargo’s main cast and characters included a host of stars

The film was actually made on a very low budget because the producers where not able to spend much on it after their previous disaster at the box office. Fargo is based on the true story of a car salesman who stages his wife’s kidnapping in order to extract money from his rich father in law. However things go completely out of order when the small time criminals that are engaged for the crime make big mistakes and turn everything upside down with unwanted deaths and murders. Jerry the car salesman delves deep into the world of crime and intrigue when Carl and Gaear who have been enrolled with the help of the anti-social Shep Proudfoot. The two criminals keep on murdering people on their way first killing a trooper and then the witnesses of the incident, later on killing Jerry’s wife and child. Wade too is killed and so is Jean.The situation gets so bloody that the two criminals do not spare themselves Carl being killed Gaear in cold blood after being shot at on the face. The film had earned itself a number of awards as well as a lot of critical acclaim. It has over the years become one of the very well known movies of all times. In fact some scenes in the movie have come into common parlance and have influenced a lot of spin offs. For instance the scene where Gaear is putting Carl’s lifeless body into the wood chipper has been parodied a number of times. Joel Coen won the best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival for this film and also the BAFTA awards for his direction. Fargo also won the best film award in the New York Film Critics Circle. Its screenplay co-written by Joel & Ethan Coen won the Writers Guild of America Award. Last but not the least Fargo won two Oscars for its screenplay and Best Actress. Frances McDormand deservedly won the honors by playing the honest police officer who strives to do her duty and do it well. The fact that she is seven months pregnant does not deter her from pursuing criminals since she is possibly the only one who figures out a connection between the murders and pursues leads till she finds the criminal Gaear and takes him into custody.
